Wellness & Preventative Care

Your pet probably loves spending quality time with you, going on walks, and eating treats. While all of this makes you a good pet owner in your pet's eyes, your furry friend also has health needs. Preventative care is a vital part of your pet’s health care. At White Rose Veterinary Clinic, serving York, SC, our team of experts can help with preventative care. We are dedicated to providing your pet with the best care it can get.

Pet Exams

To begin a preventative care exam, our veterinarian will first conduct a comprehensive evaluation. During this time, we will assess various parts of your pet and ensure that it doesn't have any visible signs of disease or illness. Our vet will also listen to your pet's heart and take its blood pressure.

Part of the examination may also consist of blood work. This gives our vet an accurate depiction of your pet's overall health, including the function of its organs.

Our wellness exam might also include dental treatment, parasite control treatment, heartworm and Parvo virus testing, and more.

Vaccinations

Your pet will also need various vaccinations. The rabies vaccine is required by law in most states for cats, dogs, and ferrets. Other vaccines can prevent or lessen the symptoms your pet experiences if it should come in contact with a certain microorganism. In some cases, the vaccine can prevent complications or even death. Our vet can discuss with you which shots are best for your pet's particular health and lifestyle.

Chronic Disease Management

Just like humans, pets can have chronic diseases, like diabetes. Our vet can continuously monitor these conditions and prescribe medications to help manage the condition. We may also recommend lifestyle changes that could improve your pet's condition.

Finding Conditions Early

When you bring your pet into our office, we'll perform the necessary testing to see if your pet is healthy. From this information, we can find problems early on, when they're easily treated.

Preventing Health Issues

At routine visits, our vet will recommend the proper diet for your pet. Keeping your pet at a healthy weight can prevent obesity, heart problems, and a variety of other issues that can affect your pet's lifespan and quality of life. We will also suggest you make sure your pet gets enough exercise.
